Spitfire: a Space Femme Fantasia, by Lyndsey Bourne is a play-thing about a group of female pilots who were secretly tested for astronaut training by a military doctor working with NASA in 1960. A historical story juxtaposed and interspersed with scenes from a contemporary, fictional story about Polly, a space-obsessed teenage girl and a queer romance that goes wrong. The whole thing ends in this queer futurity/utopian rock concert in zero gravity.
The cast and team behind this production would like to acknowledge the difficult nature of some of the material present in Spitfire and it is important to us that you have enough information to consent to this experience. Spitfire includes depictions of disordered eating habits and mentions of rape and sexual harassment. If you have questions about the material covered or would like additional details to support your safe engagement with the content, please reach out to Fiona Selmi (ffs2@williams.edu)
