Williams Chamber Players are known for their exciting performances and stylish programing. This evening begins with arias from one of J.S. Bach great masterpieces, Cantata BWV 140, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Sleepers Awake!). Featured singers Keith Kibler, bass-baritone, and Erin Nafziger, soprano, are joined by violinist Joana Genova, oboist Carl Jenkins, cellist Nathaniel Parke, and Edwin Lawrence playing harpsichord.
A frequent soloist with the Williams Chamber Players, Joanna Kurkowicz performs Cesar Franck’s Violin Sonata. She is joined by pianist Doris Stevenson, and together they bring Franck’s rich harmonic language to life.
After an intermission the program continues in grand style. Joanna Kurkowicz, Doris Stevenson, and cellist Ronald Feldman perform one of the great works from the chamber music repertoire, the Mendelssohn C Minor Trio.
The Williams Chamber Players is a resident faculty chamber music ensemble at Williams. The ensemble offers performers and audiences the opportunity to explore chamber music over a range of periods and styles. Distinguished performance faculty share the joy of making music together to the delight of student and community audiences.
