Williams Chamber Players offer their third concert of the season. The music faculty group offers works by Gaetano Donizetti, Libby Larsen, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Johannes Brahms.
Soprano Erin Nafziger and pianist Doris Stevenson open the program with a work by Donizetti, “Piangete vio…Al dolce guidami” from the opera, Anna Bolena. A vocal quartet, Julia Randall ’19, Emily Han ’20, Guanghao Yu, ’21, and Matthew Williamson ’21, take the stage with guitarist Jeff Miller to perform music of Praetorius, Dowland, and Campion.
Erin Nafziger performs Libby Larsen’s, Last Words of the Wives of Henry VIII. Larson weaves Elizabethan lute songs commenting on the plight of each of Henry’s queens into this cycle of five songs.
Clarinetist Paul Green and colleagues celebrate the 85th birthday of Krzysztof Penderecki performing his Quartet for Clarinet and String Trio. Violinist Joanna Kurkowicz, violist Rebecca Christainsen ’20, and cellist Ronald Feldman join Mr. Green for this work.
For Piano Trio in C Minor, op. 101, Doris Stevenson and Joanna Kurkowicz, are joined by cellist Nathaniel Parke to round out the program.
