Voice Auditions for Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Lessons

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Laura Pierce, sings jazz, blues, ballads, Latin, bebop and swing styles. The ensemble sings three and four-part written arrangements as well as songs arranged by the students with solo spots and group singing. These skills will also be developed: vocal improvisation, tone quality, jazz singing techniques, sight singing and ear training. The group performs in a recital each semester, as well as off-campus. This ensemble may be taken as a partial credit fifth course through the Chamber Music Workshop program MUS 291-298.
