The Commons: A History of Land and People at Caretaker Farm by Campbell Leonard '25

One of the first community-supported agriculture programs in the United States, Caretaker Farm has served Williamstown since 1975, modeling the importance of agriculture in building community. The relationship between land and people on this particular farm, however, has a much longer history. “The Commons: A History of Land and People at Caretaker Farm” is an oral, geological, and archival history of the land at Caretaker Farm, written by Campbell Leonard ‘25 for an Environmental Studies independent study. Come to the Matt Cole library on May 8th at 6 pm for a reading and conversation of the work, and learn about one of Williamstown’s most influential farms.
