Beauty in the Eye of the Statistician: Statistical Image Properties in Traditional Art, Bad Art, and Abstract Art by Trang Ngo ’23, Statistics Colloquium, Wednesday, November 16, 1:10 – 1:50 pm, North Science Building 114, Wachenheim.

Abstract:  How do we quantify features of artworks? What are the differences between traditional art, abstract art, and ”bad art”?  During this talk, we will walk through some statistical image properties of visual artworks and how to use these properties to compare one artwork to another.  We will also discuss using non-parametric ANOVA to test the differences between three categories of art: traditional, abstract, and bad art.
