This MIDWEEKMUSIC consists of just one piece – with many performers. Matthew Gold leads a group of Williams students, faculty, and friends in a performance of Having Never Written a Note for Percussion, by James Tenney. The work for tam tams and other gongs involves a long roll with a crescendo, a peak at the halfway point, and a decrescendo, all over a very long time span.

Audience participation is encouraged. Bring a gong – and play along!

MIDWEEKMUSIC is a unique lunchtime music series. The audience sits on the Chapin Hall stage to enjoy the wonderful acoustics and atmosphere of a grand hall combined with the intimacy of a chamber concert. Everyone is encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy the music performed by our students and faculty.
