MIDWEEKMUSIC "Away"

- This event has passed.

This first MIDWEEKMUSIC of the year consists of just one piece – with many performers. Matthew Gold leads a group of Williams students, faculty, and friends in a performance of Away, by Betsy Biggs. Away is a structured improvisation for large ensemble. Musicians are instructed to move spatially through a graphic score deconstructing the American folk song, “Oh, Shenandoah”. Players may move through the tune forwards or backwards, but may not jump too far through the melody. The pianist provides a metronomic tonal basis for the piece.
Student vocalists/instrumentalists who would like to participate:
*sign-up HERE (must be logged on to your Williams account!)
*Please contact Matthew Gold with more questions
*This is a music community event open to all of our talented student musicians!
Chapin Hall, steps – weather permitting
MIDWEEKMUSIC is a unique lunchtime music series. The audience sits on the Chapin Hall stage to enjoy the wonderful acoustics and atmosphere of a grand hall combined with the intimacy of a chamber concert. Everyone is encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy the music performed by our students and faculty.
