Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Some of its Applications by Allen Wang ’20, Mathematics Colloquium, Wednesday, October 30, 1 – 1:45 pm, Stetson Court Classroom 110
Abstract: Ever wonder how to Visualize Higher Dimensions and Numerous Data Sets in a 2D-space that is easier to understand? We will explore some mathematical background of Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which is an increasingly popular dimensionality reduction technique that has applications in a variety of computational fields. We will focus on some foundational linear algebra and statistical concepts related to PCA. We will also explore useful PCA applications in Neuroscience/Cognitive Science and other fields.
