Leticia Alvarado: "Latino/a Performance: From Abjection to Relation"
Thu, November 1st, 2018
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
- This event has passed.

Professor Alvarado will read a paper based on her wide-ranging and well-received new book from Duke, Abject Performances: Aesthetic Strategies in Latino Cultural Production. Professor Chavoya will respond to the paper, opening up a conversation about Latinx artists who use negative affects such as shame, disgust and unbelonging that cohere, perhaps surprisingly, in Latinx affiliation and possibility.
Alvarado’s very interdisciplinary work will attract an audience of people interested in Latino/a Studies, Art, Theater, WGSS, Africana, as well as the field of American Studies.
