Linear Programming Applications: Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck Refueling Station Modelling by Leah Shvedova ’25, Monday November 4, 1:00 – 1:50pm, North Science Building 113, Wachenheim, Mathematics Colloquium
This talk dives into how linear programming can help plan where to put hydrogen refueling stations for future fuel cell trucks. As these trucks become a greener choice for long-haul travel, they need a network of refueling stations on major routes. I’ll explain how a mathematical model can decide the best spots to place these stations, focusing on keeping costs down while covering the routes trucks travel most. We’ll also look at when it makes sense to produce hydrogen on-site with renewable energy, creating a roadmap for a cleaner transportation future. Come learn about the energy industry, mathematical modelling, and green solutions to modern problems!
