Harvesting Energy Through Vibrations by Arden Fluehr & Ali Hashim ’25, Wednesday March 12, 1:00 – 1:50pm, North Science Building 113, Wachenheim, Mathematics Colloquium

Abstract: This talk explores how vibrations can be used for generating electrical energy. We will look at a vibro impact system that has a capsule with a ball contained inside. We will discuss key behaviors such as period doubling and grazing bifurcations that can have different effects on the amount of energy harvested.
