Assistant Professor Zachary Wadsworth will present two recent compositions, both commissioned by the Staunton Music Festival, where he is a composer in residence. The first, Four Laws, is a duet for percussionists that explores the compositional process through the creation and destruction of musical “laws.” The second, Walzer einer neuen Liebe (“Waltzes of a new love”), is a set of songs that uses banned poetry of fin de siècle Germany to explore homoerotic desire in Romantic spaces.
