Geographically, Williams is isolated but it is not an isolating place. Yet people at Williams have to work a bit harder not to shield themselves from the outside world. So what are some of the pathways to engage with global discussions and networks? What experience have people had in conducting research in different locations around the world? What were some of the practical, political and methodological challenges? What can be learned from academic conferences and meeting scholars and students from other institutions? After hearing some opening remarks from faculty and students, participants will be encouraged to talk about various new avenues of learning, how to pursue cutting-edge research, how to access knowledge and how to build up and utilize global networks. How can we stay connected and relevant at Williams? A range of healthy (though mostly unhealthy) global snacks will be served.
