Williams Concert Choir and the Williams Chamber Choir conducted by Anna Lenti present a fall concert.
Notice: Masks and proof of vaccine are required for all public events until further notice.
The Choirs’ fall concert features music that explores themes of violence, crisis, and the search for peace. The first half of the concert features shorter works from a variety of styles and genres, including pieces by contemporary composers Ted Hearne, Sydney Guillaume, Jonathan Woody, and others. The concert culminates with a performance of Jepthe, a 17th-century oratorio by Giacomo Carissimi. This dramatic work tells the Biblical story of the judge and war general, Jephthah, who vows that if God will grant him victory in an important battle, he will sacrifice the first person who comes out of his house.
The choir would like to invite audience members and supporters to donate to 18 Degrees. Programs and services provided by 18 Degrees promote the well-being and strengths of children, youth, and families to build better communities in Western Massachusetts.
