Complementary Regions of Knot Diagrams by Professor Colin Adams, Williams College, Friday September 15, 1:00 – 1:50, North Science Building 015, Wachenheim
Abstract: Given a knot diagram, we can consider the complementary regions that it divides the plane into. For instance, for any given knot, does it always have a diagram with only triangles, squares and pentagons for its complementary regions? Can we restrict the possibilities for regions even farther? No particular math background needed for this talk.
