Keeping up with the fast-moving world of sports data requires you to wear many hats.  On top of being a full time statistician, maintaining pace requires you to be a part-time student and part-time salesperson.  Technical skills get you in the door, but the next step requires communication skills and a willingness to learn.  Datasets, the methods with which we analyze them, and the technology we use to do so are all constantly evolving.  Understanding the full scope of your work and how to communicate it to those around you becomes the most powerful way to make an impact.
