It is 1809 in a British manor house, and precocious teenager Thomasina Coverly is far more interested in sex scandals than completing her studies of Fermat’s Last Theorem.  Now fast-forward two centuries, when brilliant feminist scholar, Hannah Jarvis, investigates the life of a hermit who once lived at the manor. As the play slides between past and present, the truth of what happened in Thomasina’s lifetime begins to unravel.  Fiery romance, the fluidity of time, and the tragedies that often befall the most powerful minds among us, all converge in Tom Stoppard’s intelligent, humorous and touching masterpiece.
