Beat the Dealer: How Math Changed the Game of Blackjack by Jake Foehl ’19, Wednesday, February 27, 1:10 – 1:50 pm, Stetson Court Classroom 105, Statistics Colloquium
Abstract: Roger Baldwin got the ball rolling with his probability analysis of blackjack, but the game did not truly change until Edward Thorp unleashed the new power of computer simulation to prove that card counting tipped the scales in favor of the player. This talk will review some of that math, as well as demonstrate a home cooked computer simulation and analysis
