Auditions for Spitfire, a new play by Lyndsey Bourne
Directed by Honors Candidate Fiona Selmi’21
Audition Materials available here!
Spitfire, by Lyndsey Bourne is a play-thing about a group of female pilots who were secretly tested for astronaut training by a military doctor working with NASA in 1960. A historical story juxtaposed and interspersed with scenes from a contemporary, fictional story about Polly, a space-obsessed teenage girl and a queer romance that goes wrong. The whole thing ends in this queer futurity/utopian rock concert in zero gravity. Casting Breakdown & More Info
To audition, please send a short video telling us a bit about yourself and your interest in this project, as well as a reading of one of the sides provided from Spitfire. Callbacks for Spitfire will be conducted synchronously over Zoom the 30th and 31st of March. Auditions can be sent to ad19@williams.edu. Please send by Friday March 26th by 5pm for consideration.
Please note that if you have already auditioned for this project through the reading of Clare Barron’s Dance Nation, there is no need to send in another audition video. You are already in consideration for this project and Fiona will be reaching out to you to gauge your interest in working on Spitfire.
Director’s Note: This honors project considers how contemporary theatre about young,
femme-identified persons can be used as a catalyist for community and coalition building among
early-career, femme-identified theatre artists.
Please reach out to Fiona Selmi, ffs2@williams.edu or dramarug Isabella Zorich ‘21 iz2@williams.edu with any questions!
