Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Actors from the Williamstown Theatre Festival – Ben Ahlers, Matthew Broderick, Ann Harada, Jessica Hecht, and Nathaniel Stampley – will read the Declaration of Independence, a British reply, and excerpts from an address by Frederick Douglass at 1:30 p.m. on July 4th in the atrium of Sawyer Library. The Chapin Library’s original printings of the Declaration and other founding documents of the United States of America will be on display in the Chapin Gallery (Sawyer 406) from noon until 1:00, and again following the reading until 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.
