Analyzing Our Gut Microbiome Composition: ANCOM-BC, by Junhee Lee ’24, Wednesday October 11, 1:10-1:50pm, North Science Building 015, Wachenheim
Abstract: How do we quantify the different microorganisms living inside our gut? The complexity of gut microbiome data presents a challenge in accurately identifying differentially abundant taxa across different ecosystems. One major challenge is the difference in sampling fraction across samples, the proportion of the population represented in a sample, which can introduce bias. In this talk, we will discuss one of the methods called “Analysis of Compositions of Microbiomes with Bias Correction (ANCOM-BC)” that corrects this bias to model the absolute abundance of different taxa in different ecosystems.
