Williams JazzDay is a new way to present the college’s active jazz scene. Fans can look forward to a number of smaller combos and eclectic mix of soloists, guests, and presentations.

Notice: Masks and proof of vaccine are required for all public events until further notice.

The guest group will be Sarah Hanahan Quartet – with Zaccai Curtis – piano; Zwelakhe-Duma Bell le Pere – bass; Luther Allison – drumset; and Sarah Hanahan – alto saxophone.
Noon – 2pm: two fantastic student combos, Crawl Space and Kafka, are playing at the Paresky Center (or outsdie Paresky Center, weather permitting.)
The 7:30-10:30pm evening concert features guest group Sarah Hanahan Quartet; the student combo Bop Biscuit; and the Williams Jazz Orchestra led by director Kris Allen.

 

More about Sarah Hanahan
Alto saxophonist Sarah Hanahan pushes the boundaries of modern jazz while staying true to the tradition. Sarah has a clear idea of what she is trying to capture which she projects this through numerous original compositions. Sarah and her band are regular performers at renowned festivals and clubs such as Smalls, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, The Detroit Jazz Festival, The Side Door Jazz Club, the Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz Series, The Rubber City Jazz Festival and many more. In 2019 the Sarah Hanahan Quintet was awarded Best Jazz Band by CT Now Readers Poll.
