De-radicalizing Muslims: A Workshop on Countering Violent Extremism Strategies in the U.S.

On Saturday, the MSU will be bringing the Muslim Justice League to conduct a workshop on CVE strategies employed by the Department of Homeland Security. “CVE is a coun­terter­ror­ism framework that recruits community lead­ers, social work­ers, teach­ers, and public health providers to assist the govern­ment in identi­fy­ing indi­vidu­als that may be ‘at risk’ of becom­ing viol­ent.” This strategy which commonly targets Muslim people employs spurious criteria, such as religiosity and political engagement.
