Fresh from a successful launch event at New York City’s KGB Bar, Duncan will be joined in conversation by Paul Olchváry, publisher of Williamstown-based New Europe Books and a onetime Budapest expat as well. The two will discuss both Visegrad’s scintillating and satirical take on expat life, the legacy of Czech writer Jaroslav Hašek’s classic satire The Good Soldier Svejk on that novel’s centennial–and the timely matter of expats and their lit in an Eastern Europe facing its gravest crisis since World War II. A portion of book sales to benefit Migration Aid, a Budapest-based volunteer NGO.
