Hi Everyone! My name is John Murphy, and I’m a senior Theatre Major, and I am shooting a 30-minute cosmic horror short film to complete the degree with Honors in Theatre. I would love to invite you to audition for the film via self-tape by Thursday, Oct 22nd, by 5PM. All members of the student body, faculty and staff currently enrolled in the College’s testing program are invited to audition, regardless of identity, experience and perspective.

Using H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Dunwich Horror” as source material, the film follows a student and a scholar at the fictional Miskatonic University hoping to capture evidence of a creature terrorizing the surrounding farmland on film and on tape, which the University administration seems determined to hide. Along the way, their documentation process brings them in contact with students, staff and locals looking to get their stories to the public. The film aims to find our gaps of knowledge about University life and ask what lurks within, and to figure out why the horrors we find there are so difficult to convincingly represent in any medium.

Time commitment will likely be several shoots between 2-6 hours the weekends of Nov. 7th and Nov. 14th, possibly with some additional shooting in the spring semester. To audition, please reach out to Ann Marie Dorr, Theatre Dept. Production Manager (ad19@williams.edu), for a selection of sides and casting breakdown, and submit a self-tape reading your chosen side to John Murphy (Director, jam12), Samori Etienne (Producer, ske1) and Ann Marie Dorr by Thursday Oct. 22nd at 5PM. Please shoot from the shoulders up, introduce yourself with your name, pronouns, class year, major, and the parts you are interested in playing. I hope to have you on board!
