Small Jazz Ensembles

This concert of Small Jazz Ensemblespromises many musical delights. Artist Associate in Trombone and jazz coach John Wheeler,whose recording credits include many of the biggest acts in the music business today, coaches an ensemble of student performers and arrangers. The students’ unique arrangements of such tunes as Moonglow, Four, and BlueBossa highlight interesting combinations and voicings for trombone, violin, vibes and reeds.  Under the tutelage of Avery Sharpe, Williams Jazz Quartet is next on the bill with more of their original tunes. Jazz director Kris Allenpresents his arrangements for large jazz combo by Charles Mingus, Carlos Jobim, Horace Silver and Andy Laverne.
