The Human Library at Williams College

Professor Magnus Bernhardsson, Professor Katarzyna Pieprzak and Christine Menard

In March 2012 Williams College will host its own human library, a library that functions like a regular library, but where the books are living people and the goal is to learn about each other.

Founded in 2001 in Denmark to promote human rights and social cohesion, the human library project seeks to promote greater understanding between people and provide a safe space where we can learn more about each other and work through stereotypes and systems of discrimination present in our community.

We will be carefully assembling a catalogue of human books. What book would you like to read? Send us your input on stereotypes or subjects of discrimination that you would like to engage.

Become a reader and enter a dialogue with a book who can respond to your questions and ask you questions too. Become a book and share your story. Become a librarian and help to curate this amazing event.
