Established in 1993 on the occasion of the college’s 200th anniversary, Bicentennial Medals honor members of the Williams community for distinguished achievement in any field of endeavor. This year’s medalists are William H. Eddy, Jr. ’49, environmental advocate; Daniel Kleppner ’53, Lester Wolfe Professor Emeritus of Physics at MIT, awarded the National Medal of Science in 2006; William E. Spriggs ’77, Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor; Joshua M. Kraft ’89, president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston; Camille L. Utterback ’92, pioneering artist of interactive installation and 2009 MacArthur Fellow.
