The Rauzy Fractal by Daniel Jordan Alvarez ’20, Mathematics Colloquium, Wednesday, October 2, 1 – 1:45 pm, Stetson Court Classroom 110

Abstract:  My colloquium presentation will be on Rauzy fractals, which are fractals associated with the Tribonacci substitution. I will first give a brief overview on fractals. I will then show how the Rauzy fractal is constructed and go over some interesting properties, such as tiling the plane. Finally, I will show that they are connected to other areas of research like multidimensional continued fractions.
