- This event has passed.

In a time and world where Islam and Muslims are “othered,” come and ponder with us on every Thursday beginning February 27 between 4-5pm on what it means to be Muslim, one who submits in engaged surrender to the Divine? We will be reading the book, Being Muslim: A Practical Guide by Asad Tarsin, and hope to cover the book cover to cover until the end of the semester. The book is an introductory read about Muslim beliefs and highlights both our spiritual struggles and aspirations; how we can, on a daily basis, develop a healthy relationship with God, through both devotions and in ordinary daily life.
With Ramadan, the sacred month of fasting beginning on March 1, 2025, this will also be an opportunity to learn about the spirit and rituals of Ramadan. Whether you are completely unaware of the religion or need to brush up on some of the basics, Being Muslim, is a wonderful book to connect to the most essential aspects of Islam.
While reading ahead may be helpful, you can also just come and join the circle of learning and reflection. Readings will be sent ahead of time when you sign up and you may also borrow a limited number of physical copies from the Muslim Chaplain Sidra Mahmood.
