The Two Kinds of Stirling Numbers and Its Applications by Athena Song ’24, Wednesday April 17, 1:00 – 1:50pm, North Science Building 113, Wachenheim, Mathematics Colloquium
Abstract: The two kinds of Stirling numbers are crucial counting sequences used in enumerative combinatorics with many applications. In this talk, for each of the two kinds of Stirling numbers respective, we will introduce the definition, compute some basic examples, and prove a recursive relation via their combinatorial definitions.
