Provost and Class of 1955 Memorial Professor of History Dr. Eiko Siniawer will speak about her book Waste: Consuming Postwar Japan, which explores conceptions of waste and wastefulness in Japan from the 1940s through the present, and people’s struggles to find value, meaning, and happiness in a post-industrialist, capitalist, consumerist, and affluent Japan.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
